IN A LIFE-THREATENING EMERGENCY CALL 911.

We understand that dental emergencies can happen when our office is closed.

However, if you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, ALWAYS call 911.

Some common, non-life-threatening dental emergencies include:

Broken tooth or filling: If a small piece of tooth or filling breaks off and the tooth is not sensitive, this is probably something that can wait until we can schedule you an appointment during the day. If the tooth or area around the tooth has fractured and it is sensitive, bleeding, swollen, or causing mouth irritations, call our office or review the after-hours contacts listed below.

Crown came off: Typically a permanent or temporary crown will only fit the tooth one way. Use some toothpaste to coat the inside of the crown and place it back on the tooth. This will act as a “glue” to keep it in place and not allow the tissue to grow up around the tooth or implant, which actually can happen fairly quickly. Then call our office right away to schedule an appointment to fix it permanently.

Damaged or missing oral appliance or denture: This is typically not an emergency but you should call our office so that we can replace or repair the damaged or missing appliance or denture.

Facial swelling or throat constriction: If you are experiencing facial swelling causing your eyes to close or throat to constrict, this is a true medical emergency and you should call 911.

Uncontrollable mouth pain: Most oral pain can be controlled by taking two 200mg Ibuprofen every 4 to 6 hours. If you are experiencing mouth pain that cannot be controlled with over-the-counter pain medication such as Ibuprofen, please contact us using the information provided below.
